Sis Bessie Ochinyabo turns 70. glory to god

Mrs. Bessie Ochinyabo, a woman of honour, integrity, epitome of honesty, sincerity with the fear of God is worth celebrating as she turns 70 today the 6th of May, 2021.

Mrs Bessie Ochinyabo who is fondly referred to as sister Bessie joined Women Aglow Fellowship International Nigeria in 1989 at Kano, Kano State while in Kano, She served in the following capacities Ministry chairperson, prayer on the Local board.

In 1991, when she was transferred to Jos, Plateau State by her employers-  First Bank, she immediately identified with the Jos Branch of the Women’s Aglow Fellowship where she later rose to become the Correspondent Secretary on the Local Board.  I cannot forget in a hurry when the then President of the Jos Chapter Mama Joy Onubogu demanded the exco to go on a three (3) days dry fast to seek for the face of the Lord to raise money for the rent for the office or 41, Tafawa Balewa street, Jos which we still occupy now.

I recall that I as the Vice-President and sister Bessie joined in the fast and God in his infinite mercy answered our prayers and God raised a man to clear our rent for two years.

She then moved to be Jos chapter president and later the Area President of the North West Zone covering Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa States.

When Nigeria Aglow become autonomous from Ghana and was given a status of a nation, she came on board as National Vice President, Administration and when the vacancy of the post of the National Treasurer, Sister Bessie was appointed to that position. She holds that position to date.

She has served and still serving in this capacity with all honesty, humility, sincerity with integrity as unto the Lord. She has kept Aglow Accounts books clean. She is a straightforward person and can be trusted with the resources of the Kingdom works.

She has attended many Local, Regional, National and International Conferences. These include Togo West African Conference in 1998, All African Conference in Grand – Bassam Abidjan, Cote d’lvoire in July 2018.

While in Jos, she was a regular face in the female inmates ward of the Jos Prison on behalf of Aglow and invariably for the church of God. She has since going to Otukpo not failed in this service to bring succor to the vulnerable in the society especially the female inmates of the Prison.

Sister Bessie can be likened to Ruth who in this case not as Naomi her mother in-law but this time likened her husband Mr Ochinyabo, “your people shall be my people and your God my God” - that is why  Sister Bessie had to relocate from Jos to Utukpo to stay with her husband in his home-town. Not only that, she changed her denomination and embraced that of her husband who is a Methodist. And from the account of her activity in the Methodist church Oturpo, her life is impactful in that congregation.

I have not only benefited from our fellowship together in Aglow, she has been a good family friend. She is into gardening, horticulture, poultry amongst others. 

Lest I forget, sister Bessie since given the assignment of sending birthday greetings to Aglow members on their special days, she had never failed to honour their birthday days. She is always the first to wake them up to usher them into their birthday season. In this assignment she has being faithful, diligent, consistent.

As you have brought joy to many people on their birthdays, may the good Lord bring in same to you as you celebrate your 70 birthday today the 6th of May, 2021 in Jesus name Amen.

On behalf of the Aglow family in Nigeria, I wish you a happy 70th birthday. May you live long to reap the fruit of your labour. I pray you see your children, children in the land of the living in good health.
